About

Welcome to my Retro Gaming & Repair Shop

Hi, and welcome! On this site, I share my passion for retro gaming through the machines I repair, mod, and maintain, as well as related accessories, games, and peripherals. I also offer repair and modification services, and even new modern hardware mods for those looking to bring their own consoles back to life.

How It All Started

I started gaming on a Philips Videopac G7000 in 1981 at age 5. Back then, gaming was evolving rapidly, and like many kids of the time, I went from home to home exploring the different machines everyone had. That early exposure sparked a fascination with all things gaming.

Collecting over the last three decades became a way to relive the memories of friends, through the consoles we used to play as kids – from Pong boxes through 8-, 16- or 32-bit systems, and beyond. I like emulators – they’re great – but the tangible console and actual controller trigger the smallest, most nostalgic memories.

How Magic Smoke Sparked My Hobby

Over the years, I experimented playfully with electronics – not always successfully, but always learning something new. I distinctly remember almost setting the house on fire while attempting to turn a Walkman into an electronic doorbell. It worked for about a day, with speakers hidden in the bushes playing my recorded message to friends – until my room caught fire from the shorted batteries.

It wasn’t until the PlayStation 1 arrived that I got seriously into modding and repairs. With some prior soldering experience from a summer job, I started modifying PS1 consoles, selling them, and repeating the process – connecting with people through local ads and early websites. That began a lifelong hobby of tinkering, repairing, and modding gaming hardware that has lasted over three decades.

From Hoarding to Restoring

Fast forward to today, and my collection – like that of many collectors – has grown a bit out of hand. Turning 50 (and hopefully a little wiser), I’ve realized I don’t need dozens of the same machines when what I truly enjoy most is repairing them and sharing this passion with others.

So, like many in the repair community, I find more joy in repairing and restoring consoles. I treat this website as a serious, highly experienced hobby – but still a hobby – that lets me enjoy the games for an hour or two while making sure every console works exactly as intended.

The hours I spend on each machine don’t generate much profit, but they do translate into the satisfaction of finding new homes for machines – whether with fellow collectors or new generations discovering these classics. And, of course, the occasional special retro game or machine for myself – I’ll admit it 🙂

Thank you for visiting! I hope you enjoy browsing, maybe find a console to enjoy or gift, or discover the repair part – or even a modern upgrade – you need for a machine you already own.
